It contains abundant organic matter and fossils, especially graptolites and some molluscs, besides sulphides.
The presence of graptolites stands out, which are typical Paleozoic colonial organisms, which have since been extinct.
It is often possible to find the genus monograptus, which is easily identifiable by its saw blade shape.
