In this geosite we can see the history and genesis of Belver's Granite and its characteristics, which indicate its formation at significant depths inside the earth's crust.
On the western side of the river Frio, near the road to Penhascoso, it is possible to observe the Granite of Belver very altered, turning into coarse sand. The phenomenon of sanding results from the disintegration of the granite rocks by the action of weathering agents, in particular the water that infiltrates and circulates between its discontinuities.
In this slope it is still possible to observe small granite blocks with rounded shapes that have not yet been transformed into sand. These are blocks that stand out on the slope and are surrounded by sand.
