2000 - River Beach of Cardigos
He is one of the ex-libris of Mação county, and not for less: he knows very well to be there. Besides the amazing river beach, the place has excellent conditions for picnics and barbecues and an area for small campsites. On the terrace, overlooking the bathing area, everything invites to a break. One breathes and feels the nature, even in the hectic summer days, when the sound of the jokes is superimposed on that of the past and the waters reflect the blue of the sky forming at our feet the rainbow of happy days. Go with time.
2006 - Mother Churches of Cardigos
Dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption, the mother churches of Cardigos are surprising for their architecture, in the form of a Latin cross, and for their tower, about thirty metres high. From there it departs every year towards the chapel of the Holy Spirit, another of the Catholic temples in this ancient village, the procession of the Holy Spirit, one of the oldest traditions venerated by the local population. In this feast in honour of the Holy Spirit, the streets between the two churches are covered with a beautiful and unusual carpet made only of natural flowers. It is undoubtedly a work of floral art that deserves to be appreciated, just like the corners of the churches in Cardigos.
2007 - Praça de Cardigos José Oliveira Tavares Junior, Cardigos
José Oliveira Tavares Junior Square: there is no other square like this in the municipality of Mação. The small houses, of traditional architecture, make us travel in time referring us to other times and stories. Without any effort, we soon return to the five hundred years, to the apogee of this village and the nation. Right in the centre of the square, the pillory, the keeper of the memories of those old times, is the most noble witness of the history that, even today, gives name to the local inhabitants - the 'galitos'.
2014 - Stone Bridge of the 3 Councils, Ribeira da Isna
A few kilometres from the parish headquarters and at the convergence of the municipalities of Mação, Vila de Rei and Sertã, we find the famous Ponte dos 3 Concelhos, a bridge with 3 arches of perfect return, built over the Ribeira da Isna between the IV and V centuries, integrating at the height an important Roman road between Mérida and Conimbriga, and which has reached our days in excellent condition. A valuable testimony of the Roman presence in this region, it is undoubtedly a heritage worth knowing.
2030 - Chapel of Serra de Santo António do Pico, Cardigos
After the Mother Church, the Chapel of Serra de Santo António is another of the monuments of Cardigos worth visiting. With simple lines, and simple interior, it invites to moments of reflection. Take a break and let yourself be heard the sound of silence that cries out around you.
2048 - Anta da Laginha, Cardigos
Access is not easy, but the effort is well worth it. Anta da Laginha, also known as Anta do Pereiro, is a mythical place that you can't miss. Whether or not you are a prehistoric lover, don't miss the way to this place, which, more than 6.000 years ago, functioned as a funerary space. After several studies and excavations, led by national and international researchers, the cultural value of this megalithic moment is today unquestionable. Go, you will not regret it.
