5007- Roman Archaeological Station of Vale de Junco (Balneário), Ortiga
PR4-MAC-ROUTE OF THE SOUTH ORTIGA
In Vale de Junco, near the town of Ortiga, we find the ruins of a thousand-year-old spa and evidence of an ancient Roman settlement. Located near the Tagus River, on a hillside surrounded by centenary olive trees, it will not give the time to visit the site for misuse. Dating from the 3rd or 4th century AD, it should be noted that several fragments of common pottery, glass, metal and some Roman coins have been found in this archaeological site, which can be appreciated at the Mação Museum.
5009 - Anta da Foz do Rio Frio, Ortiga

Situated on the top of a plateau overlooking the River Tagus, the Anta da Foz do Rio Frio is the first of the funerary monuments in the municipality of Mação to deserve your visit. If you can go at sunrise, when the dawn of a new day highlights the magic of the place. At night, under a starry sky, the charm is no less. Built probably at the end of the fifth millennium BC, the monument was identified in the early seventies of the last century and is today one of the main tourist attractions of the municipality. Once in the village of Ortiga, just follow the signs, there are signs to the site.
5028 - Miradouro da Formosa, Ortiga
Get ready for another magnificent view of the Tagus river bed, the great confidant of the people of Ortiga. From the Natural Miradouro da Formosa you can see the blue of the sky, the green of the tree tops and the whole palette of colours with which happy days are painted. If the sun is saying goodbye to the day, let yourself watch this magical moment, which is to see the sun hiding, well from the river.
5047 - Boavista Natural Viewpoint , Ortiga

It is one of the best known viewpoints in the municipality, famous for providing fabulous views over the Tagus and the fields that extend along the river. Climb the cliff over the bank and let yourself be enchanted by the chirping of the birds bouncing around and the delicious smells of the local flora. If you are looking for a place to watch the sunset, this viewpoint will not let you down! The views to the Tagus and the mountains are of immense beauty.
5020 - River Beach of Ortiga

At the mouth of the Ribeira d' Eiras, which comes here to embrace the reservoir of the Belver Dam, we find the River Beach of Ortiga, the oldest and most charming of the entire municipality. Like the other two, further north, it has its own car park, picnic area with barbecue and pier. For hiking lovers there are also several footpaths, and footbridges, so that they can discover the banks of the Tagus very closely.
5033 - Museological Nucleus of Ortiga (Mação Museum)

In the old Primary School of Ortiga, a parish with the river Tagus at its feet, the Museum of Traditional Fishing Arts was recently born. In this museum you will find a permanent exhibition about the fishing arts and the local tradition and culture and you can also discover a series of activities related to the theme of the museum, something that is closely linked to the history of this village and the memories of its people.
