Located east of the village of Queixoperra, the Cabril dam is part of the Northern Driver System and is the main source of supply for the Negrelinho Dam located in Mouriscas (Abrantes).
The water supply to Mouriscas is ensured through water collected from the Ribeira de Rio Frio reservoir, which is then transported through 600 mm diameter pipelines to the reservoir of the Negrelinho Dam, built for the purpose and with a storage capacity of about 12,000,000 m3.
The water collected is taken to a Treatment Plant, where it is filtered, in slow filters, then passing through contact chambers, with gravel, for pH correction, and then subject to disinfection, before entering the Reservoir which from there supplies the whole of the lower area of Mouriscas, to the place designated as Carvalheiros.
The water is also pumped to the Lomba Cimeira Reservoir, which supplies the upper part of Mouriscas and Entre Serras, where, through a Pumping Station built there, it is elevated to the Lercas Reservoir, which in turn serves the respective settlement. To ensure the supply of the Lomba Cimeira area a hydro-pressure system is operating in the Lomba Cimeira Reservoir.
The population served by this system accounts for 4.5% of the municipality's population.
The system integrates 16 km of pipelines and a distribution network with about 55 km of pipelines.
